"(CANBY) - A man is in custody in Clackamas County for what could only be described as a bizarre set of circumstances invloving a number of burglaries and the desecration of a church in Canby.

It began October 15th at 7:45 in the morning when Ms. Celio Portillo was in the process of opening The Seventh Day Adventist church at 2180 NE Territorial Road, in Canby.

While entering the Church, Portillo realized the church had been burglarized and vandalized extensively. Alarmed with this discovery, Portillo called the police.

Responding Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies documented in their investigative crime report 17 interior doors painted with graffiti -- some of this graffiti read: Faggots; F --- Jesus; I eat babies, and sell your soul to a lye.

In addition, a swastika and devil worshipping signs were spray painted throughout the interior of this house of worship. Trophies were destroyed and a fire extinguisher had been deployed which covered the interior of the sanctuary with a fine, fire retardant powder. A cross and an American flag had been turned upside down – with the cross discovered to have a knife stuck in the center of it."

'tis the season.. and the wannabes and nuts come outta the woodwork.

It is awful that churches are the ones to be the targets for such things though.
