Ok, I am curious....What makes Hope channel different from 3ABN?

Or is it a rehash of the same thing....Jim and Tammy Bakers wannabes with a lot of Southern Gospel music?

Both Hope and 3ABN are available on the internet so I am assuming everyone here has access to both.

3ABN has a lot of experience doing what they do and Hope is just starting out. However the Adventist Media Center has been working with media ministries for quite sometime and have excellent programs like It Is Written, Voice of Prophecy and Lifestyle Magazine.

In my opinion they both have some good programs and both have some "yawners". 3ABN Today is a talk show where someone, often Danny, interviews guests and he does get some good ones and really keeps one abreast with current ministries in the church.

I like both of them about the same.

This sounds like a question from someone that doesn't watch them. I certainly wouldn't say they are a rehash of the same thing. Kind of like the CNN and MSNBC. They both target the same audiance but have different programs and formats.

And what audiance are they targeting? Conservative Adventist???
As far as I am concerned, 3 ABN is tooo conservative and feels like it. I have no idea with the Hope channel....

The target audience is two part. The first part are those already in the Adventist church, conservative or otherwise. The second part is potentical converts. Both 3ABN and Hope are targeting these two groups.

3ABN has certain standards that some do claim are too conservative. I have heard Danny admit that some of them are extra-Biblical. I don't know if the word conservative is quite right but that is a matter of opinion. But they do a great work and not every program on the channel can be painted with the "conservative" brush. I am increasingly enjoying the interviews on 3ABN Today. If given a choice of watching David Letterman, Jay Leno or 3ABN Today, I would choose 3ABN Today any day of the week.

The Hope Channel is a work in progress. Many of their top programs are top notch like those I listed earlier in this thread. However some of their interview-type programs are still finding their way and working out the kinks. What they need is like any network, they need the right person with the right budget. That is hard to come up with for 24/7 programming. I tend to doubt they would want to be labeled as a "liberal" channel although their standards for music do appear to allow more variety.
