I have a serious question.
I have to preface it by saying that it may sound harsh but I do not mean to be. I really do struggle with this question.
Since ALL promises are conditional I am told ... What assurance do I have that the promise will be any good for ME. I am a sinner. And I am told that all promises are based on obedience to God's word.
Ellen White says that the reason our prayers are not answered is because of unfaithfulness in tithing. Perhaps I forgot to pay tithe at some point (unknowingly) and therefore that is why my prayers are not answered. She also goes further and says that if you don't pay tithe then you are not worthy for heaven.
So ... What chance do I have.???

Matthew 23:23 " Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the weightier provisions of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness; but these are the things you should have done without neglecting the others.

Thanks for your question! I think it's a good one! There is a great book out there that addresses this issue, that I've plugged on Clubadventist before. It's called, Forever His and it's authored by Marvin Moore. You can get it at your ABC or by going to: Online ABC In it, Moore tells about how the Christian life works. He talks about when you don't find yourself in a state of perfection (and all of us can relate to that!) how you need to "put yourself on the side of grace" right where you are. This is an ongoing process, an everyday, sometimes moment by moment walk with the Lord. It is a very encouraging book! I like Moore's books because he puts deep spiritual themes in terms that the ordinary person can grasp. If you want to call me at the ABC that I work at (and people do from all over N. America) you can call: (604) 859-2566. We do lots of mail order! The toll-free ABC number is (for the ABC closest to you): (800) 765-6955 I REALLY recommend this book!

Re: All promises being conditional
It might be a good discussion. I am not sure that I believe it myself. It could be however. I have been frequently told this by others and have read something like this in Ellen White. (For what that is worth )
The rest of you ... Help us out !!!

I agree with you.
It's not that I agree or disagree with the statement, it's just that I haven't thought about it or experienced it enough to say one way or the other
I also think it would be a good discussion topic
