The Lord, with whom is no variableness nor shadow of turning, does however consider the backgrounds of some people and is merciful to whatever disadvantage this may have caused them. He is kind, and powerful enough to help anyone live His way, but he understands that faithful adherence comes easier to some than to others. Some folks take a while to unlearn the bad stuff they picked up before meeting Jesus.
