Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.

Basically, I would begin my Sabbath School this week by asking this question:

How do you know the Bible is reliable?
In your opinion, what is the greatest proof that the Bible is reliable?
You may choose only one

The greatest danger to the Bible today is not questions about its reliability but the fact that it is really seldom used.
You may choose only one

Yes, I agree, but I don't really like any of the answers. For instance, none of the first group are really the strongest reason I would give for belief in the Bible, although they all are true and important points to consider. (By the way, it is not exactly true that the Dead Sea scrolls prove the Bible has not changed at all since it was written. One might want to compare Deut. 5:12-15 in the Dead Sea Scrolls with that given in the KJV or RSV. That is a very important, even [for me] an astonishing, difference.)

The second question is not phrased very well. It not a matter of the Bible seldom being "used" but of most people not seriously studying and putting it into practice. They may "use" it all right but as a paper-weight, book-end, or to impress, etc.

Personally I like the questions. They aren't meant to be scrutinized but simply to cause each of us to take a moment and
consider what we believe and why. These opening questions always
cause me to reflect on why I trust and Who I trust.
