Memory Text: 1 Peter 1:24-25 NIV “24 ¶ For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, 25 but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you.”

What issues are being discussed in these texts?
1. God’s Requirements - Micah 6:8 NRSV “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Micah 6:8 SDA BIBLE COMMENTARY The objective of true religion is character development. Outward ceremony is of value only as it contributes to such development. But because it is often easier to render outward service than to change the evil propensities of the heart, men have ever been more ready to render external worship than to cultivate the graces of the soul.
2. Source of Life – John 10:10 NRSV “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”
John 10:10 The Clear Word for Kids Thieves and robbers are interested, not in feeding the sheep, but in killing and eating them. I have come to give them a new abundant life.
3. Source of eternal life – John 17:3 NRSV “And this is eternal life, that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.”
4. Certainty of judgment – Acts 17:31 NRSV “because he has fixed a day on which he will have the world judged in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead."”
Acts 17:31 The Clear Word for Kids The day is coming when He will judge the whole world by the man called Jesus, whom He has raised from the dead.
5. Location of peace – Philippines 4:7 NRSV “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Monday, June 25 God’s Everlasting Plan
Psalm 33:11 Amplified Bible “The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the thoughts of His heart through all generations.”
Psalm 33:11 COMMENTARY BY ADAM CLARKE What he has determined shall be done. He determined to make a world, and he made it; to create man, and he created him. He determined that at a certain period God should be manifested in the flesh, and it was so; that he should taste death for every man, and he did so; that his Gospel should be preached in all the world; and behold it has already nearly overrun the whole earth. All his other counsels and thoughts, which refer to the future, shall be accomplished in their times.
What are the purposes of God’s heart?
John 3:14-17 Holman “14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in Him will have eternal life. 16 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
1 Timothy 2:4 Holman “who wants everyone to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
2 Peter 3:9 Holman “The Lord does not delay His promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance.”

Except for the Bible, where would we learn these truths?
Isaiah 65:17 Holman ““For I will create a new heaven and a new earth; the past events will not be remembered or come to mind.”
Matthew 24:30 God’s Word to the Nations “"Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky. All the people on earth will cry in agony when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds in the sky with power and great glory.”
1 Corinthians 6:3 God’s Word to the Nations “Don’t you know that we will judge angels, not to mention things in this life?”
2 Corinthians 5:21 God’s Word to the Nations “God had Christ, who was sinless, take our sin so that we might receive God’s approval through him.”
Ephesians 2:8 God’s Word to the Nations “God saved you through faith as an act of kindness. You had nothing to do with it. Being saved is a gift from God.”
1 Thessalonians 4:16 KJ21 “For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first;”
1 Timothy 1:15 KJ21 “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation: that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.”
Titus 1:2 NLT “This truth gives them the confidence of eternal life, which God promised them before the world began—and he cannot lie.”
Hebrews 2:14 NLT “Because God’s children are human beings—made of flesh and blood—Jesus also became flesh and blood by being born in human form. For only as a human being could he die, and only by dying could he break the power of the Devil, who had the power of death.”
Revelation 20:14 NLT “And death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire.”
Revelation 20:14-15 The Clear Word for Kids That’s when I saw Satan, together with all those whose names were not written in the Book of Life, thrown into the lake of fire and totally destroyed. This is called the second death.
Revelations 21:4 NLT “He will remove all of their sorrows, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. For the old world and its evils are gone forever."”

Wednesday, June 27 Unbroken Promises
1 Kings 8:56 Amplified Bible “Blessed be the Lord, Who has given rest to His people Israel, according to all that He promised. Not one word has failed of all His good promise which He promised through Moses His servant.”
1 Kings 8:56 SDA BIBLE COMMENTARY God never fails. He has made many promises to His people, and He is faithful in carrying them out (Heb. 10:23). If men fail to receive the blessings that the Lord has promised to give them, it is because of failure on the part of man. The Lord had promised to give to Abraham and his seed the land of Palestine for an eternal inheritance (Gen. 12:7; Gen. 13:15; Gen. 17:8), but the descendants of Abraham after the flesh forfeited that inheritance because of their transgressions against the Lord (2 Kings 17:7–23; Jer. 7:3–15; Jer. 25:4–9).
Romans 4:21 ESV “fully convinced that God was able to do what he had promised.”
Romans 4:21 The Clear Word for Kids Abraham never doubted God’s promise.
Here are some texts with promises:
John 16:33 God’s Word to the Nations “I’ve told you this so that my peace will be with you. In the world you’ll have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world."”
John 16:33 COMMENTARY BY ALBERT BARNES Luther said of this verse "that it was worthy to be carried from Rome to Jerusalem upon one's knees." The world is a vanquished enemy; Satan is a humbled foe; and all that believers have to do is to put their trust in the Captain of their salvation, putting on the whole armour of God, assured that the victory is theirs, and that the church shall yet shine forth fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners.
Matthew 28:20 Holman “teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
Matthew 28:20 The Clear Word for Kids Teach them everything I’ve taught you. I’ll always be with you, right up to the end of the world.

Thursday, June 28 The Bible Endures
Matthew 24:35 NKJV “"Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
Matthew 24:35 SDA BIBLE COMMENTARY The policies of even the greatest men of earth change, but the principles of God are steadfast forever, for God changes not (Mal. 3:6). Here, Jesus places emphasis on the certainty of what He has revealed concerning the future, particularly with respect to His coming and the end of the world.
1 Peter 1:24-25 NKJV “24 ¶ because "All flesh [is] as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the LORD endures forever." Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.”
1 Peter 1:24-25 SDA BIBLE COMMENTARY Peter stresses the brevity of human life as compared with the eternity of the government of God. Without the hope of God’s gift of eternal life man has but a few short years of existence… The pronouncements of God abide forever; nothing God says needs to be altered or corrected. The principles of God’s government will endure as long as God Himself continues to exist.. That God’s eternal word about sin and salvation constitutes the “good news” of the Christian church is Peter’s eloquent climax. Thus, “obeying the truth” (v. 22) ensures the Christian of everlasting fellowship with the eternal God.

Friday, June 29 Further Study
Ellen White, Great Controversy, pp. 600-601 “All who value their eternal interests should be on their guard against the inroads of skepticism. The very pillars of truth will be assailed. It is impossible to keep beyond the reach of the sarcasms and sophisms, the insidious and pestilent teachings, of modern infidelity. Satan adapts his temptations to all classes. He assails the illiterate with a jest or sneer, while he meets the educated with scientific objections and philosophical reasoning, alike calculated to excite distrust or contempt of the Scriptures. Even youth of little experience presume to insinuate doubts concerning the fundamental principles of Christianity. And this youthful infidelity, shallow as it is, has its influence. Many are thus led to jest at the faith of their fathers and to do despite to the Spirit of grace. Hebrews 10:29. Many a life that promised to be an honor to God and a blessing to the world has been blighted by the foul breath of infidelity. All who trust to the boastful decisions of human reason and imagine that they can explain divine mysteries and arrive at truth unaided by the wisdom of God are entangled in the snare of Satan… We are living in the most solemn period of this world’s history. The destiny of earth’s teeming multitudes is about to be decided. Our own future well-being and also the salvation of other souls depend upon the course which we now pursue. We need to be guided by the Spirit of truth.”
