Here is a question I might use to start my Sabbath School class discussion:

Considering Samson's experiences, how should a young (or old) man relate to women and especially to the choosing of a wife?

Here's the message on a trivet we bought at an Amish country store years ago:

"If you treat her like a thoroughbred, she won't grow up to be an old nag."

Advice from a Charlie Pride song:

"Kiss an angel good morning,
And love her like the devil when you get back home."

Or something to that effect.

I have told both of my sons "A 'fixer-upper' is great for a first house. But don't marry one."

Choose wisely and..
Treat kindly.

Wow, this is an incredible story that has much more to it than is suggested. God intends Samson to begin the deliverance of the people from the Philistines as noted in Judges 14:4. Was Samson desiring to marry and raise children? From his conception, Samson was set aside to be a Nazarite in diet, fashion, & education yet here he commands his parents to get this woman from among a "heathen people." This is a "showdown" between the God of the Bible and dagon the god of the Philistines and Samson as he slowly gives way to the desire of the flesh begins to lose his connection to God. He chooses to listen tohis wife to keep in good standing with her and later his harlot rather then trusting God. As God is faithful and can not remain where sin abides leaves Samson but after Samson is "humbled" to his dependence on God, he repents and God returns to hear and receive him and his request is answered. "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord." Is 55:8
