Great to hear about that series. Do you know if scientists will be offering their analysis on this program? I've always been very interested in Darwin and evolution. I'm reading Darwin's The Descent of Man now. We need a series that deals with these issues in a serious way. I'm looking forward to Pastor Boonstra's seminar.

I think Darwin was scared of God by false doctrine. Just like so many others are.

I'm curious to know who (besides Seventh-day Adventists) would attend this series.

I think Darwin was scared of God by false doctrine. Just like so many others are. Exactly. Darwin turned away from God who tortures humans in hell forever. Eternity alone will count the souls whose conscience was wounded by this offensive doctrine, olger

There are other Christians besides SDAs who are interested in learning about the evidence supporting the concept of God as Creator.

So this evangelistic effort is specifically targeting other Christians?

I have a serious question. I keep coming across interview/articles and such with Ken Ham, of the Creation Museum. Why are amny Christians so direspectful of people who believe in science and/or evolution? And why can't one's faith be deepened by a knowledge of science? I know mine has. I can't put G-d in a box.
In my opinion, we should, at the very least, understand that others' beliefs can be a product of their experiences. We should be mindful and respectful of that.

I have a serious question. I keep coming across interview/articles and such with Ken Ham, of the Creation Museum. Why are amny Christians so direspectful of people who believe in science and/or evolution? I think there are many, many Christian scientists and believe in "science" but not evolution. I for one do not subscribe to the notion that science and evolution go together like peas and carrots. However, with that said, we have no right to be rude or disrespectful to other's, whether they be Christian or not. Our character's are always to represent the Father's. can't one's faith be deepened by a knowledge of science? I know mine has. I can't put G-d in a box. Indeed, I believe science proves the existence of God just as much as anything else in the physical world can. When you consider the complexities that involve just our plant alone and it's ability to sustain life, it is almost inconceivable NOT to believe in God and creation. The video ] ]"ThePriviledged Planet" should be required for every Christian that "believes" in evolution. In my opinion, we should, at the very least, understand that others' beliefs can be a product of their experiences. We should be mindful and respectful of that. There is no question about that, however we should never compromise our beliefs to placate someone else and their "stiff" views.

It's silly, isn't it, saying that one "believes" in evolution. It's not quite right, but it's less awkward than saying "I acknowledge the truth of evolution." I wish I had better language for it. I watched the video you recommended this morning, and I am neither no less nor no more amazed than I was before about life--how it came to be, how it still exists. It's all amazing, all the time.

Nice response! I certainly do agree we should never compromise our beliefs to placate. At the very least, it is disengenuous to ourselves. At the worst, it's blasphemy.
At any rate, I appreciate it when those of all sides can come together with civility, however rare that may be!

It's all amazing, all the time. To think that for over 150 years people keep trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Indeed.

There is no question about that, however we should never compromise our beliefs to placate someone else and their "stiff" views. Perhaps I am not aware of what you mean by "stiff" views. But I have found that most views are "stiff" until they are changed. And I think that it should be that way. If you have a view ... I would hope you have studied it enough to believe in it. And until you have studied more and discovered something different ... I think that being stiff about it is fine.

I started a thread about this in the Hope Channel section. I really appreciated It Is Written's approach to this. I need to check and see if they have the CDs for sale yet. There is a segment of the unchurched that this type of evangelistic series will reach. We have had many of these creation/evolution discussions here and I think they are good and healthy. I don't think it is real appropriate to focus on that debate in a thread discussing a specific evangelistic crusade. Certainly asking who, or what group of people, this type of crusade might reach is a good and valid question. I think this type of a crusade works a dual purpose. It can reach a segment of the unchurched while also serving as a revival for those already in the church. I use the word "segment" because there are a number of unbelievers and unchurched that are not interested in what any church has to say and will never come to any crusade. There are also a group of scoffers that would only come to try and pick apart the presentations that are made. However I have known people that are unchurched and would be interested in crusades like this.
