Club Adventist

Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

It's silly, isn't it, saying that one "believes" in evolution. It's not quite right, but it's less awkward than saying "I acknowledge the truth of evolution." I wish I had better language for it.

I watched the video you recommended this morning, and I am neither no less nor no more amazed than I was before about life--how it came to be, how it still exists. It's all amazing, all the time.

Nice response! I certainly do agree we should never compromise our beliefs to placate. At the very least, it is disengenuous to ourselves. At the worst, it's blasphemy.

At any rate, I appreciate it when those of all sides can come together with civility, however rare that may be!

How ever you wish to word it is fine by me but the general notion of 'evolution' must almost be 'snickered at' in light of the spectacular and awesome singleness of creation.

To think that for over 150 years people keep trying to put a square peg in a round hole.

Indeed.

Perhaps I am not aware of what you mean by "stiff" views. But I have found that most views are "stiff" until they are changed. And I think that it should be that way. If you have a view ... I would hope you have studied it enough to believe in it. And until you have studied more and discovered something different ... I think that being stiff about it is fine.

I started a thread about this in the Hope Channel section.

I really appreciated It Is Written's approach to this. I need to check and see if they have the CDs for sale yet. There is a segment of the unchurched that this type of evangelistic series will reach.

We have had many of these creation/evolution discussions here and I think they are good and healthy. I don't think it is real appropriate to focus on that debate in a thread discussing a specific evangelistic crusade. Certainly asking who, or what group of people, this type of crusade might reach is a good and valid question.

I think this type of a crusade works a dual purpose. It can reach a segment of the unchurched while also serving as a revival for those already in the church. I use the word "segment" because there are a number of unbelievers and unchurched that are not interested in what any church has to say and will never come to any crusade. There are also a group of scoffers that would only come to try and pick apart the presentations that are made. However I have known people that are unchurched and would be interested in crusades like this.
