Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Joab said to Amasa, "How are you, my brother?" Then Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him." 2Sam.20:9

Taking hold of someone's beard and kissing him on the cheek was a customary Oriental greeting.

By doing this gesture, Joab showed the base treachery of his heart by approaching Amasa as a friend. Taking hold of Amasa's beard and holding it so that he could not pull back, Joab plunged a dagger into Amasa's belly.

In this culture, to touch the beard of another, except as an act of friendship and respect, was an insult.

Can you think of another Biblical account regarding beards and insulting someone through an act having to do with a beard?

its taken me awhile to find it, but I remembered reading this just a short time ago.
King David sent a few envoys to the King of Ammon, and they shaved half of there beards off. Which at that time was an insult to the jews.

Yep! That was what I was thinking of! And not only that, didn't they rip 1/2 their garments as well, leaving 1/2 their butts bare? I would find that insulting!
