Well, then, is the Sanctuary in Daniel 8

“people, place, or thing”?

I am a somewhat simple person and can only deduce that “place or thing” is simply not in view in Daniel 8:14. Daniel 8:14 refers to “people(s)”, only. WDYT?

If the words of David (some suggest that he is a Type of Christ?) are considered..., well, let’s take a look:

Ps 114:2 Judah was his sanctuary, [and] Israel his dominion.

Harmonizes, doesn’t it?

But, what’s with the “cleansed”? Sheep fat, lye, and ritual? ...don’t think so.

but as I READ DAN 8 I HAVE to say that the
sanctuary mentioned in DAN chap 8 ver 13
has to refer to a place if not then what
would the host be?????

any jewish person would know what
the santurary was. also the priest would
know what that santurary was

>>...the sanctuary mentioned in DAN chap 8 ver 13

Daniel 8:13 derives "host" from the same tsaba' - as does Exodus 7:4; 12:41 - that is, Strong's #6635 tsaba'

WDYT?

>>any jewish person would know what

Would their "knowing" harmonize with the relevant texts provided below?

HEY JASD

THE Sanctuary has to be a place
there is a sanctuary in HEAVEN that
is were GOD is.
plus GOD gave Moses A PATTERN of
the sanctuary in Heaven to build on
earth

Pslams CHAP 19 VER 9 IS talking about
the statutes( which were the laws of GOD)

CONTINUE

THE jewish people went to the sancuarty
to be cleansed. THE preists made scarfices
for the cleansing of the people
I LOOKED up all the text from GEN CHAP 38
VER 26 TO PSLAMS CHAP 19 VER 9

AND there was a lot about judgement
but I COULD not see anything to say
that they were talking about the sanctuary
the chaps and vers in JOB compare
GOD and man and talk about righteousness of
GOD compared with man

so again I DO not see anything here about
the sanctuary.

IN EXODUS CHAP 15 VER 17 last part
"IN the place, O LORD,which YOU have made
For YOU only dwelling, The Sanctuary,O LORD,
which Your hands have established."
IN EXODUS CHAP 25 VER " And let them made
ME sanctuary that I may dwell among them."

I can appreciate the seeming obvious; that is, of likening the sanctuary of Daniel 8:14 to another sanctuary – in this case, those mentioned above.

Bear in mind that the relevant term vis-à-vis the sanctuary of Daniel 8:14 is #6663 – tsadaq; cleansed. The proffered texts identify those passages where one might be pointed-to or apprehend the explication of sadaq.

"All lexicons agree in giving the meaning of the word as ‘to be just,’ ‘to be righteous.’ In 8:14 the word occurs in the Niphal form (the reflexive or passive), and would ordinarily be translated ‘be justified,’ or ‘be made righteous’ ” [ed.]

Following, the question obtains: would one ordinarily use terms such as ’to be justified’ or ‘to be made righteous’ when referring to a place or a thing? Not so. However,

one does so when referring to people(s) – in this case the referent antecedent Judah/sanctuary – as synecdoche...

Dan 8:14 And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.

More concisely: the sanctuary to be cleansed is Judah. The question obtaining would be – at what point in time (date certain) would Judah be cleansed? and why would it have been necessary?

HEY! yourself, dgrimm60,

>>well since you 1st posted here time
has been moving.<<

Indeed it has; it is not as you expected?

>>I will still be here
and the world will not have ended.<<

Let us hope so, and not.

You seem to be utilizing an infinity loop. I’ve responded to exactly the same samba several times, already; so, curiosity prompts:

however have you discovered an end-of-the-world (specifically, “80-09-08“) interpretation in that article? I’m especially interested as, having only taken away from its author’s proffer – an intimation of end of times – rather than an end-of-the-world scenario.

To determine that the author intended other than what his plainly written words suggest – seems to require tools that are unavailable to me; such as, perhaps, another sort of objective metric.

The referent source, ”Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Sep. 3, 2007, by John Boudreau, Beijing, China.”

seems to have taken the matter no farther than Revelation 9. That leaves a whole bunch of ‘world-ending’ events remaining thereafter – by my reckoning, don’it? bwink
