Club Adventist
Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Cheri Peters hosts this in-depth series on addictions and dysfunction, featuring frank discussions with guests who bravely share their stories. Using the book Steps to Christ as an outline, these programs offer real solutions and point viewers towards the One who has all power. Due to the sensitive subject matter parental guidance is strongly suggested.

This is such a great show. Well... it is one of my favorites but I have been in AA for 20+ years too. I have always thought the Adventist church could learn a few things from AA. Well, Cheri Peters is the teacher. Great program! Now in season two.

If you don't have Adventist TV in your home you are missing out on tons of blessings.

Cheri Peters is an awsome tribute to what God's love can do! At times we all think that our life is as bad as it can get, until you hear the story of her life and how God found her where she was. There are no word to describe the inspiration that she is. Anyone would be blessed by watching her series and personal ministries that she does for those that have addictions or for anyone for that matter.

God is Good!!!

Loc: hopefully in Church and not on...
I read both her books and saw her in person at a celibrating recovery seminar two towns over.
She is changing ever so slowly my perception of GOD. Which I need desperatly. p r a i s e G O D!!

The 12 step group I attend was directly started by her ministry but the ministers wife has turned it into a sabbath school class.
we started out with 12 people(3 men and 9 woman) and now its just me and her. The men left first now it seems no one else wants to come.

The ministers wife is very nice and positive but is very judgemental though she dont think she is. She loves JESUS!

soooooo... Its not a safe place. Twice I have meekly confronted her and she dont understand. I confront out of desperation not wanting the 12 step group to dissapate, Not cause i want to confront a 60 something old ministers wife.

early on SDA doctrine was introduced on the slide by the dear Ministers wife and a few felt they were in the wrong place- they were just desperate to reach out not to join a church

I am hanging in there!
we started almost three months ago. I was previously going to a 12 step sex and love addicts meeting but no chrsitians there and I wanted christian fellowship so bad(I have no fellowship at my country church). So I was so thrilled to have an SDA christian 12 step group!!!!! YAHOOOO!

But the group quickly has gone down hill.

It was like we had to share our problems at the first few meeting THEN quickly follow up with nothing but praise reports or it would seem we are blaspheming the Holy Spirit and question our sincerity.
almost like here!

i am the working poor and it is costly to drive so far once a week

so its just me and the ministers wife!
and I will keep going! and hopefully wont buckle under the pressure by her and and put on a CHRISTIAN HETERO MASK there also

one in 20 in our churches wont be saved huh? i believe it!

I am glad you found us here. We have a sister forum, http://www.adventist12step.com which doesn't have a lot of people contributing but gets over 2,000 hits each month.

Cheri, we, my wife and I, have purchased the first two seasons of Celebrating Life. We are both in good standing as members of the Adventist church but would like you to take courage in the fact that there are none who are not somewhere in addiction to sin, so your programs will speak to any that will confess that the only reason they take any steps in righteousness is a result of the keeping power of the Holy Spirit, invited by the repentant soul to enter into their soul. Not all are willing or necessarily ready to make that committment and the present acknowledgement of help by one who views your program is probably, for the most part, not because of a lack in your program.

Our primary reason for obtaining your programs was because, even in any comfort of personal righteousness our Father has given us, He spoke to us both of our great need, whether or not any others may have what they would consider a greater need. We have found in the viewing of others who may even now be struggling through severe trials of desperation with personal sinful behaviours, but for the grace of Jesus and His shed blood, there go we. And because of your programs we now have some tools we are sharing with next door neighbors who believe themselves to know all about Adventists, but a side of reaching out for Christ through your ministry shows a side of the grace of Christ that has been, for the most part, unavailable up to this time in Adventist Ministry in the U.S.

I have a feeling Ron Halvorsen may have a different viewpoint than that. Are you familiar with his efforts?

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
God's Blessings! peace

Apparently Cheri is battling leukemia, Danny Shelton mentioned that in his interview in the thread Meeting People's Needs

I pray she is doing well as I am sure God would be able to use her for many years to come. I don't like to second guess God so I just pray she is doing well.
