Oh yes ... there are many here in addition to Bonnie ... that I am sure you could relate well with. I've been called the Devil by a moderator. Some are very straight forward and speak their mind unapologeticly. Call sinners by their name .....

I am sure I am in the minority but I don't see this as an attack so much on women as on men. Not much of a disagreement if women voice their complaints on men,but it gets a bit different when a man points to men.
Besides isn't there something biblical about turning the other cheek instead of responding in kind? Seems to be a poor choice to say "Well, you attacked first"
As far as not many left standing, I have always been taught that is exactly true. When it counts in the final countdown not many will be left stannding.

We've been through the moderation thing before. I agree, it would definitely be ideal to have perfect, impartial moderators with the wisdom of Solomon who took no part in the discussion. I'm positive that if you can PM the names and e-mail addresses of some of those to Stan he'll start using them immediately. In the mean time, people do the hard and thankless work of moderation here because they enjoy being here, and part of enjoying being here is participating in the discussion. I used to be the moderator of Town Hall, but resigned because I was seen as being biased in particular ways. The job sucks, and the mods get all manner of abuse and no thanks or acknowledgement. It's a miracle they keep coming back at all.

it would definitely be ideal to have perfect, impartial moderators with the wisdom of Solomon who took no part in the discussion. This straw man gets trotted out every time this topic gets discussed. But anyone who has actually run a successful organization of any kind can tell you it doesn't take any such sort of super human. Few rules, well considered, impartially enforced. The rules don't have to be perfect, either, just consistently enforced. Of course that would change the types of exchanges, and eventually, the membership of the forum. What you have here is a certain type of approved predation. The predators are pretty constant, the prey come and go. But a dysfunctional system appears normal to those accustomed to it, and anyone who blows the whistle is considered a troublemaker.

Oooooh, I can see the value in coming along side quietly, and smacking someone with a 2x4...or 2x6 if I am feeling particularly strong that day...It's so much more gratifying to broadside someone when they least expect it...At least with a 2x4, you can make a significant impression that just wont be ignored......

When it counts in the final countdown not many will be left stannding. Well then ... all of us here might as well just duke it out and see how few are left. That seems to be the holy and righteous thing to do ....

Hey, Bravus, I will have you know, that I have volunteered to moderate various forums, dispensing with my wisdom and expertise with the full vision of impartiality, and Stan still refuses to use me in those forum.... What can I say????

Get a team of 5 to agree on what is acceptable Nope. Quite the contrayr. The rules don't have to be perfect, either, just consistently enforced. Everyone is so RIGHT in their own eyes Don't have to be right, or be convinced that the rules are right. Just have to know what is/is not acceptable.
