Leviticus 19:28
"Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks (print any marks, KJV) on yourselves. I am the Lord."
Both cutting and tattooing were heathen customs, and God forbade his people from doing so in imitation of them.
Sometimes tattooing was accompanied by shaving of the hair from the forehead- see Lev.21:5, Deut.14:1; Jer.16:6, and 48:37.

Well I guess it's a good thing I never listened to that little voice that always said it would be kinda cool to have a little tat.
As we know, many pick and choose which, if any, of the OT laws they follow. How do you think this should apply to our culture today? Especially with our young men and women in the service who find their tattoos marks of honor to their fallen breathern.

Wow ... Good question. Culture and the Bible. Almost as good as culture and Ellen White. Well ... not quite.

Yes- good question! But in Bible times, the practise was forbidden.

That is such an interesting subject! It sounds like maybe it was a cultural thing, like eating meat offered to idols, and not really a sin.
I just read an article today about a couple that got tattoos in honor of their dead baby. Somehow, I can't believe God would condemn them for that.
