Aw, and just as I was thinking about coming back here, too.
Thanks!

Hmmm...I thought Laodiceans just didn't care.
Baal worshipers, on the other hand, had a lot of energy about Baal.
Hi, olger.

Cool, I kinda didn't realise it was open again, and have a pleasant half hour or so in front of me catching up.

Evolution is the Baal worship of Laodicea. There are probably more tactful ways to express this thought. It certainly is a common analogy in creationist circles and not without ground but not a perfect analogy either. The children of Israel were surrounded by Baal worshipers. Baal worship was in contrast to the worship of Jehovah God. Baal worshipers worshiped the creation rather than the Creator God. When reprimanding the children of Israel, God would remind them He was the Creator. It this sense evolution is like Baal worship since they focus on the tangible world in front of us and place their faith in whatever it is able to tell them. They in turn reject the claims of God as the Creator made in the Holy Bible. It is not a perfect analogy because Baal worshipers did believe in gods. They were not atheists or agnostics. They had temples and worship services. While some evolutionists do make a religion out of secular humanism, "evolution" itself is not a religion. So the analogy fails to be a complete comparison. Within the church there are some members that believe God used evolution to create the universe. Many creationists view these people as compromising the Bible with secular humanism - mixing holy fire with strange fire. I am not willing to sit in judgment on that. I think we each have our own path and need to move forward in our spiritual walk being honest with ourselves and willing to obey what we believe God is revealing to us as truth. I think it is important not to dig our heels into a specific position and be unwilling to allow God to show us another perspective.
