Club Adventist

Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

"He shall send from heaven, and save me from the reproach of him that would swallow me up." Psalm 57:3

"Swallow me up" is another way of saying, "completely destroy me".

Reproach is saying something that would discredit someone. If your reputation or your expertise or experience is under reproach there is reason for you to be discredited before others.

Sometimes people carry grudges and speak ill of others. Maybe they think they will look better in comparison, or perhaps because of their grudge they want to cause suffering to that person.

Sometimes when it is your word against the other's you need heavenly help to get out of it! God can provide a change of heart or a change of circumstances to present the truth clearly for all to see.

Remember the Lord at times when attacks from others would seem to "swallow" you up!

Yes. We are human and will do that. But it would seem that occasionally we need to wake up and make things right. That would mean to jointly make a statement with those we carry grudges against .... stating that we want to move forward and do better.

Then ... as Stan states ... we may need to 'repeat as needed'.

Although the promise is aimed at victims of reproach, that's cool that you focused on the reproachERS.

But that change must come from the reproachers! God can give them repentance, that's for sure. In the meantime, help from heaven is promised to those who suffer the results of reproach.
