Probably wouldn't be 'for evolution' though. Maybe something like 'Adventist Origins Alternatives'. If anyone has a snappier, accurate suggestion it'd be very welcome. More somewhere that allows questions to be raised than somewhere offering or advocating for any one particular answer.
Be interesting to see whether it could be kept civil. This forum largely has recently.

All for a good cause, Bravus. Alternatives would be a good place to start, but you probably already know my humble (ahem) opinion on the use of the word "origins."

True, but 'Adventist Alternatives' would probably blast it considerably wider than I wanted to go! (plus it sounds a bit like a somewhat sleazy dating site!)

The question among adventists then is about the "when" of the beginning written about by Moses and John. That is not an issue to Adventist theology. The "beginning" could have been billions of years ago. God could have created the earth formless and void and come back many eons later to create life on it during the creation week.

Why is that not the same as what I said? Whenever it happened it was the begining for this planet wasn't it?

i think this is the thread i needed to see. I hate to admit it, but I have been struggling as of late. I am puzzled to how we believe in a 6 day creation when science suggests billions of years.

The question really is whether we make science our authority or whether we make the Bible our authority? Do we make our human reasoning the basis of what we believe as a church or do we accept the Word of God? What do we do when those things conflict? That was the situation that Eve faced.
If science becomes our authority, then we will have to say that Jesus was not resurrected and that we simply can't know if God exists. We will also have to discard the miracles of Jesus like a lot of other churches have done.

There are a lot of people in that same boat. The problem is a fundamentalist reads the Bible as a scientific treatise rather than a spiritual one.
