Club Adventist
Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Adventists are known for eating more nuts and beans than the general population. Well.. how about you?

How often do you eat nuts or a nut butter?
You may choose only one

Are you counting peanuts as nuts? For beans, do you include all legumes, such as lentils and peanuts? I eat peanut butter every day, so wasn't sure where to include it.

Peanuts are generally considered nuts even though they are technically legumes. The healthful benefits they offer are more comparable to nuts than beans.

Lentils definitely fall into the "bean" category. As do soy beans, garbanzo beans, and other various types of legumes

We eat pancakes for breakfast about three times each week. Sometimes more often. I mix up a batch of batter and keep it in a sealed Tupperware® bowl and we eat pancakes for breakfast until the batter runs out. I often toss a handful of crushed walnuts into the batter and sometimes even a little milled flaxseed.

Ah recently was invited to a friends house and we had waffles with peaches and whipped cream...They were wonderful...Waffles were made from pinto beans and flour...Wonderful slight nutty taste and reasuringly healthy....

And ah agree we must follow the health message of Sista White and improve on our choices....

I always add wheat germ to our pancakes. My family can't tolerate whole wheat yet, but they never notice the wheat germ.

Hi, Brother,

I thought that even people from the south actually SPELLED their words right, even though they pronounced them differently. Am I correct? Or are you making out to be someone that you are not?

Just thought there were a few things that did not ring true.

I don't think soy is good for you. It's a genetically modified food, and it seems that there are a lot of problems associated with long term intake. I stay away from it. I use "Rice Milk" on my oatmeal in the morning.

How can you be sure all soy is genetically modified?

Some things suit some people, other things suit others - there are some things where we need to work out what is best for ourselves.

For the record, I do not use much of soy products.

Sixty+ years ago my parents adopted a baby boy . At the age of 3 he began to have what the Dr diagnosed as asthma. It was very severe. The pediatrition at Paradise Valley Hospital in San Diego told my parents to take him off of milk and milk products. They began to use a "new" product called Soylac. It was terrible for me at the time.! I was around 8 years old. Later we did get used to it and my parents have not used dairy products since. My brother now in his 60s has not had a problem with asthma. My father is now 93 and in good health for his age.

The soy used in "Silk Soy" is organic and not genetically engineered per the box.

Soy may not be good for everyone, but has been widely used in the orient for many years and I havent heard that they have
problems with long term intake.
