That would silence environmentalists. Greenies vilify the use of technology-- by other people!

Probably not quite what you mean to bring out with this comment - but some of the worst wars in history have
been in the name of religion. As any humanist (which usually encompasses a belief in evolution) will be very willing to tell all who listen - with the conclusion that proponents of such wars are lacking the decencies of common humanity.

Ah, an interesting comment indeed.

But no, sadly most of the worst wars in history have been fought over land and resources, then there is ego and patriotism, sometimes over women.

When you really think about it the concept of humanism is quite laughable. The scientific evidence shows if there is no God, there is no hope. bed

The concept of a religious war is actually quite recent there are not many documented religious crusades, you can probably count them on your fingers and toes. This is probably because not many ancient religions really took themselves seriously or were not interested in proselytizing.

Because religion has been a strong part of human existence many ancients probably consulted their gods or asked them for victories, but no...not many religious wars as far as I know. That is actually an atheist myth. All religions need a scapegoat, most normals blame the devil or some force of evil. But atheists find it hard to believe in the devil for obvious reasons so they need an explanation for the immense evil they see in this world. And alas, they've decided to blame us.

Nan said that some of the worst wars in history have been fought in the name of religion. One could hardly disagree with that statement.

Your response that most of the worst wars in history were fought over land and resources is likely true, with ego and patriotism running second. But women? Do elaborate.

I'd love to hear more about this scientific evidence.

I disagree, other than the crusades(they weren't really about christianity but anywayz), my choppy knowledge of history can only remember one other real great religious war, the Taiping Rebellion. I guess the muslims fought a few wars also. I can't really think of many great wars where religion was the main or a major catalyst.

It is true that many recent wars have been about religion but I just don't see any evidence of great religious wars. Recent being defined as in the last 2000 years.

Well to be specific about the woman thing, if wars are fought for resources then they are fought in the name of feeding women.

On a sadder note, war has been, is, and will always be a good way to get women.(Not really good for the women mind you.)

To reiterate, war is a good way to get women. Survival of the fittest sucks if you are a woman.
Women will survive but they will never be fit.
Well I guess they could evolve but it's unlikely seeing that nothing evolves.

As I said before in this post,
Christians=the meek will inherit the earth.
Evolutionists=the rapists will inherit the earth.

On a lighter note, nice blog theme.
