I have heard it said in the Adventist church that those that can overcome appetite can overcome any sin. It is as though nothing is harder to overcome than appetite. If we can master appetite our anger, jealousy, gossip, greed, rudeness, impatience, intolerance, bitterness, vengefulness, lustfulness, laziness, and other sins will have no hold on us or at least quickly be defeated.

Christ says, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." (Matt. 6:21). From that comes the saying "You can't take it with you but you can send it ahead." If there is one sin that seems at the top of the list to be conquered, isn't it greed? Doesn't Christ seem to be teaching that how we use our pocketbook is a fair measure of where we are at spiritually?
