From the Desk of Don C. Schneider. . . .
Feel free to share this information.
1. Dave Weigley, president of the Columbia Union Conference, preached at the New Jersey Camp Meeting last Sabbath, and made an appeal for people to be baptized. 35 people came forward indicating a desire to be baptized.
2. Max Torkelsen II, president of the Upper Columbia Conference, is considering a call to become the president of the Lake Union Conference, to replace Walter Wright who has retired.
3. Last weekend I was preaching at the camp meeting in Alberta, Canada. As I entered the camp ground I was handed a case which contained a lot of material. A part of the material was an appeal for the evangelism offering. The goal was stated, and the commitment of each pastor to have two meetings in each church during the 2009 Year of Evangelism was a part of the appeal.
4. Children attending Vacation Bible School in the NAD are learning about kings and queens in the Bible, and are also learning about the Navajo Nation, and the La Vida Mission School. Children attending VBS are encouraged to bring money each day to put in a bottle which will be sent to the mission school to repair the well which is used by the townspeople and the mission school. After just two days of reporting $4,000 of the $30,000 goal has been received.

So several times a week they must drive their trucks to the well and fill up their containers, and usually a neighbor's or friend's, with water for bathing and drinking.
