Well with all the talk of the Economy failing by the end of this month and people resorting to Bartering lets Barter now.
Now What can we barter? Things we grow for other things or skills maybe.
I have a tree load of Avocados coming in. They will be ready by mid November. I have a tree load of Persimmons as well. They will be ready in Four weeks. I will have a tree load of Haas Avocados by January. I have a tree load of Pomegranates which will be ready in Four weeks. Tangerines in Seven Weeks.
Plus Accounting and Computer skills.
Any other Barterers around here.

WOW, that's alot of fruit. Wish I could barter but I have nothing of value to offer. I have always liked the barter system though.

Barter works in small communities of people. I'd like to hear your ideas on trans-state border barter between individuals. Would you have to barter with the truck drivers to bring the food to and from people and orchestrate the exchange?
Instead of bartering, I think that social credit system is far better (not socialism). You can't inflate the credits, and local communities are in charge of managing the credits. These are then can barter as communities and organize large shipments based on that credit management. There would not be any need for banking, well perhaps the bank would be re-defined.
We already use checks as means of payment, so there is no need for money really, especially in closes knit communities. The credit accounting entity would then simply account for credits, without charging any interest... and thus receive credits for this job rendered.
The fraud would be very difficult to orchestrate in closed knit communities.

Cash always works in any barter. Ask again in two months when they are ready for harvesting

Buy gold while your cash is still worth something. Cut the gold into exact grams for currency.
One idea.

I'd take some of those Haas avocadoes, too, but I suspect that distance would be a problem - both cost and timewise.
In a barter system, I could offer tutoring, especially in reading, helping someone clear up a hard-to-understand accent, quilting (including memory quilts - from T-shirt collections, clothing having good memories, and/or photos applied to fabric), digitally scrapbook your photos, custom banners, and some et ceteras I can't think of right now.
Where bartering would help me the most would be to trade for dental care, but I understand that the way things are set up, dentists can't do it. Can anyone explain to me why?

battering is not wise...it tends to lead into misconception..especially if you're single woman. What if a person doesn't have? Shouldn't we as christians(seventh day adventist) help or give anyway?

battering is not wise...it tends to lead into misconception.. I agree with this part, you have to make sure that both parties agrees to the terms, or one party can easily get taken advantage of. We use to barter our computer repair business with our tax accountant. Sounded good at the time, until we started spending three times as much time working on her systems than she did working on our taxes. Then she started wanting free parts and eventually free computers, we finally sat her down and had another chat and went back on a cash only basis. I am all for bartering as long as everyone agrees to the terms.
