Club Adventist

Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

Quote:
Some 46 million turkeys have been or are now being slaughtered for Thanksgiving in the United States this year, and by the end of the year, the total number slaughtered will be between 250 million and 300 million. Almost all of these turkeys are bred, raised, and killed in facilities that utilize intensive farming practices, which entail overcrowding, physical mutilations, the thwarting of natural instincts, rapid growth, poor health and hygiene, and inhumane transport and slaughter practices.

One time several years ago, I happened to be traveling behind a truck full of turkeys on the interstate. Some of them had their heads out of the pens.
There were feathers flying all over, and a terrible smell came from the truck. As we got closer, one of the boys said that he noticed that some of the turkeys' heads were blue. I believe that those were the ones that had already met their fate.
We were extremely glad to finally be able to pass the truck and not have to smell or see the turkeys.

A good day for the Turks though. A few years ago, we were on a tour in Turkey. The guide seemed a little perturbed that we seem to take Turkey for granted even though it's one of the few strong allies we have that has a predominantly Islamic population. I assured her that we think of Turkey a lot on Thanksgiving day. She was not the least amused!

hiya OH! ME! ME! I have a turkey story!

Years ago I had a penfriend who lived in Ankara. She once asked me if I knew a friend of hers that lived in Alaska... (since I live in Canada and that is close to Alaska...)

Anyway, she took offense to my using the word "Turkey" on the envelope when I addressed my mail for her. She insisted that I use Türkiye.

She was not willing that her country be confused with THAT bird.

So I did.
