I love this thought (from Messiah): “Zechariah forgot that when God promises something, He makes it happen.” And then the chapter goes on to draw a lesson for us today. “The birth of Zechariah’s son, like the birth of Abraham’s son, has a lesson for us all. It teaches a great spiritual truth: we are not capable of anything good by ourselves. But the things we cannot do can be done if we have faith in God’s power. By faith, they could believe that a promised child would be born. Through faith, we can believe that we are re-born to obey God’s law and follow Jesus’ way.” Jerry D Thomas
