Dearest Edward,

I wonder if there is a scientific reason for your observation that "I have found in women that I have known, the shorter their hair, the shorter their fuse in flying off the handle." Maybe there is some nutrient that is formed in the hair that has a calming effect on females.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Gray

Mrs. Gray, you have my vote of confidence! I confess you could have read me the riot act with me & my sharp tongue, even being off base, but your hairs length supplied your body with the calming effect needed to stay focused & calm. Now I would be disappointed with you if I found out later you were going through your kitchen slamming cubboard doors.

I might add here that slamming cubbard doors was the advice a SDA counselor told my wife as how to let off steam. I bought her a piece of chain instead and asked her to hit the cubboards doors instead, to give them that antique look.

I read of a man with long flowing hair that had the back wheels of his car jacked up and he crawled under to check a vibration and his hair got caught up in the turning drive shaft and it jerked his scalp off.

I once met the mother of a 10 year old, long haired girl who had been playing in a playground and her long hair got caught up and it ripped her scalp off too. ( She sought medical help and the damage was repaired.)

I wonder, what is the moral in that occurrence?

Should women tie their long hair back?

Gail, Hollywood may have pictured Jesus & Moses having long hair but I doubt that Jesus or Moses would have violated a principle in the bible. Samson had long hair but this was the exception to the rule as his parents was instructed from a heavenly being.

Samson had long hair because he was of the Nazirite order, and that IS prescribed in the Bible, that those who are/were dedicated to God in this way do not cut their hair.

John the Baptist was also of this order and Paul at one time took a temporary Nazirite vow in Jerusalem (Acts 21:21-29).

It seems that any man could participate in this at any time. Having long hair could indicate a state of dedication to God

The OT guidelines for following the vow are found in Numbers 6:1-21

FWIW- As to the state of hair length in Jewish culture, here is a tidbit from John Mark Ministries:

Quote:

[from usenet]

I may be able to help a little bit with the 'long hair of Jesus thing...

>Why are lots of pictures of Jesus portraying him with long hair?

I recently found out that our modern idea of 'short hair' and that of Our Lord's days are vastly different. Back then hair to the collar or shoulder was not 'long', but in fact short, Mans hair was only considered 'long' when it passed the centre of his back down to his buttocks. On this information, Jesus did not have long hair at all... In fact our modern haircuts of shaved heads and near shaved heads would have been considered a shame in those days by the Christians, as only the pagan religions had shaved heads in their priesthoods (eg: Ancient Egypt and Babylon).

LOL I have been enjoying reading these responses! Hey Amelia, what are these little faces with the tongues sticking out! LOL
As for me, I have long hair, and love everyone, and don't judge whether they have long or short hair. I love you all! Denise
