EUROPEAN THEOLOGY TEACHERS CONVENTION

BELGRADE, SERBIA [ANR] ?The bi-annual 'European Theology Teachers
Convention' (ETTC) organised by Newbold College in England was held
at the Belgrade Theological Seminary in Serbia 16 ? 20 March 2005.
Attending the Convention were over 70 Seventh-day Adventist theology
teachers from many different countries such as Great Britain, France,
Germany, Austria, Russia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Serbia, Croatia, Netherlands, Denmark, and USA.
There were representatives from 12 educational institutions in 3
different regions: Trans-Europe, Euro-Africa and Euro-Asia. Official
representatives of the local government were present for the opening
of the Convention.

The theme was "Beyond Diversity in the Contemporary [European]
Adventism". This was divided into five main parts, discussing the
question of Diversity in the areas of Adventist Tradition and Church
Authority, Hermeneutics, Adventist Doctrine, Role of the Local Church
and Pastor, Role of Adventist Education on Diversity; and Role of
Cultural Context on Diversity.

The opening Keynote address was given by Jean-Claude Verrecchia, dean
of Theology at Collonges College, France and the Sabbath sermon was
preached by Daniel Duda, professor of Theology at Newbold College.
Among the activities was the presentation of papers on different
topics and follow-up discussions, a discussion in specialty groups,
and sightseeing Tour of Belgrade. On Friday night the youth choirs
from the Belgrade Theological Seminary and Belgrade central church
prepared a concert of Byzantine and Gospel music that was greatly
appreciated by all.

Duda, chair of the Planning Committee commented, "I think that this
Convention presents a great contribution to the work of educational
institutions in Europe. Activities such as this have a stimulating
and encouraging impact on all participants, as they can progress,
reach out to each other and become better united. People have
opportunity to meet together, get to know each other and to find some
solutions for the problems they encounter in their work. Especially
for the smaller institutions this is a priceless opportunity. The
value of it goes way beyond the incurred cost."

Originally only three senior colleges; Newbold, Collonges and
Friedensau participated. However, for more than 10 years the
Convention has been attended by participants from almost all European
educational institutions regardless of size or location. The next
ETTC will be at Friedensau University, Germany in 2007.

TED PRAYER GUIDE FOR WEEK 3 ? 9 APRIL 2005

ST ALBANS, ENGLAND [ANR] ? Commitment is a strong word that denotes
positive action. Spiritual commitment involves a personal decision to
continue to follow the one we are committed to ? Jesus Christ our
personal Saviour.

This week stop and take time to remember how and when we made our own
personal spiritual commitment. Then make time to share your story
with someone else. Share how you became a Christian, what led up to
your decision, and then what has taken place since. If possible share
this story with someone younger in your family or immediate circle of
friends. We all have an interesting story to tell that others who
know us well would like to hear and our stories are important in the
faith sharing process.

Celebrate with anyone you know who has just made a personal decision
to follow Jesus, perhaps as a result of the recent Youth Week of
Prayer. If a baptism is being planned in your church this week make
sure to be there in support of the candidates.. The wise man said; ?A
word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in a setting of silver.?
(Proverbs 25:11)

Let us also encourage someone to make their own personal spiritual
commitment with our words of gold fitly spoken at an opportune time
this week.

Prayer Requests:

1. The youth of your church this week..
