I am more concerned about the guy in the mirror.
OTOH, if we know someone could be dangerously close to rejecting the blessings of God, is it proper to ignore a brother we're concerned about but choose to remain silent on the perchance the brother might get uptight.
"But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven. "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. But who or what is it that ultimately determines whether something is, in fact, God's will or not?

If we take scripture, who ultimately interprets what that scripture means?

we are continually thrown back upon ourselves for the final decision in all things, and cannot avoid or escape using our own judgment.
That's definitely true of whether to believe or not to believe. But what we believe to be true neither makes it true or false. And what we don't believe neither makes it true or false.
"Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." Mark 9:23,24
The words of Jesus were true whether the suppliant believed them or not. Only his ability to receive the words of truth were based on his belief. The man/woman may not believe the way they dress has anything to do with their own sprituality, but when the pervert takes advantage of the person who is immodest in dress, it will be more difficult for the follower of Christ to maintain their trust that Christ will always do the right thing for them during the subsequent trauma. This, of course, would be directly referring to the believer who had been convicted of immodesty by the Holy Spirit and had chosen to ignore the warning/s.
"Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee." Psalm 143:8 KJV
"So try to walk a middle course--but those who fear God will succeed either way. " Eccl 7:18 NLT
"Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it," Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left." Isaiah 30:21 NKJV Keep the faith!

However there are some that want to live without God's direction and standards and yet claim to be followers of Christ. They get nervious anytime anyone starts discussing God's expressed will for our conduct. So they automatically start judging those of us that discuss it by accusing us of wanting to judge others. They are trying to silence us. Actually they are trying to silence the Holy Spirit and as the apostle Paul discovered, it is hard to kick against the pricks.
That may be true, Brother Shane, but is this not just as much an assumption as the assumption that one brings up standards in order to judge others? In other words, why proceed from this assumption as opposed to any other? What makes this assumption safer or more sacrosanct, more desirable or more to be favored? Just wondering.
I think you have a good point here, Nico. And I believe that many assumptions (far more than at present) could be laid to rest by heeding a very simple principle, one I'm not always faithful to follow, though I do try. Thank you, Lord, my salvation is assured by Your righteousness and not my own.

My statment is not directed at any individual or group. >> I am simply stating that these types of people exist.<< It is also true that there are judgmental people that search the Bible for ways to judge others.
Re: >> << And yet when a comment like that is made would you not find it true that people might look around, wondering if you are referring to them. If it is just between you and me, and I know it isn't me, is it safe to say you must be talking about yourself? Or maybe me, God forbid, and then what is that going to do to the friendship I thought we were developing? And if we weren't developing a friendship, would it be safe to say we probably would find it harder to develop one now. Mind you, I'm not talking about egregious immorality. I'm merely referring to whether a man ought to waste his money on a hat because he wishes to hide his bald pate. Or he might want to avoid sunburn. Seems like it could sometimes come down to this text.
"And He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and viewed others with contempt: "Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. "The Pharisee stood and was praying this to himself: 'God, I thank You that I am not like other people : swindlers, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. 'I fast twice a week; I pay tithes of all that I get.' "But the tax collector, standing some distance away, was even unwilling to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, the sinner!' "I tell you, this man went to his house justified rather than the other" Luke 18:9-14 NASB

We should. All of us should always be continually evaluating ourselves. (Ps. 139:23, 24)
"Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23,24 AMP
Notice, Shane, that the text refers to our Father's searching. You've undoubtedly heard the best way to recognize a counterfeit bill is to study the genuine. Keeping our eyes focused on Jesus gives us all the facility we need for identifying the specious, plus the power through Christ to affect changes needed as we are led to follow His example. Constantly looking at and analyzing our own and other's sinfulness has just one sure result, demoralization.
I've found the best way to avoid self-incrimination, as well as giving all others the freedom and right to do as they wish without condemnation from me, is to just preach the Word. This gives a clear field for the Holy Spirit to speak without the fallibility of a fallen human to make, what is very simple and clear, difficult to comprehend.
And if you would be prone to pick out posts of mine that belie the truth of the matter just expressed, I'm still working on doing it as Jesus would.
Keep the faith!

Do you wait for Him to speak to you through the rocks? I find that reviewing my day's activities during my evening prayers the Holy Spirit convicts me of my errors.

How about a balance here: He does the searching; we give Him the time and focus to do it with us.
