I just found out that my step brother Paul has been diagnosed with lung cancer and given just 6 mos at the most. This is sooooo sad because he has had a life riddled with health problems. Severe allergies and asthma as a young child. Emphysema brought on through work conditions and now this. Paul and his wife have moved back to the 80 acre family farm on Larch Mt to be surrounded by peace and beauty. Plus my step mom wants him close by. His brothers and sisters are all making plans to return and visit him this summer and take him fishing if he feels up to it. He LOVES to fish. I ask for prayers that Jesus graces him with the time to say his goodbyes to all his friends and family. And I pray that the end is swift without lingering and pain.

Amelia, it is really sad. Will be praying for him.

Glad that he is going "home" and will be around family, peace, beauty and hopefully be able to enjoy this tie in his life.

Please keep us posted.

Amelia, I'm sorry to hear about your step brother. My father died of cancer too, and I remember that one weekend they released him from the hospital to be with his family one last time. He went back into hospital and died there instead. It all seemed so unreal. I'm sure it all seems unreal and sad for your family too.

Sometimes those given a timetable can really stretch it -- someone given 6 months can sometimes linger on for a couple more years or even go into remission. I pray that his might be the case, but I pray that if his life must end, it will be quickly and peacefully, without pain, surrounded by friends and family and without fear. And that he will be able to do things he wanted to do in the time left to him.

Update: Well Paul is not taking to well to his chemotherapy. For some reason, about 20 mins after being hooked up, he has to run to the bathroom. That and being sick for a few days after is causing some depression. His wife, Karen works evenings as a shipping clerk. She has been going to his treatments also and messing up her sleep schedule. So everyone is quite stressed at this point. Oh and if you could say a little prayer for my grumpy dad, who threw his back out getting the apt at the farm ready for them.

Pauls reaction to the chemotherapy is getting worse but he and his wife are now fully moved into the little apt on the farm. My stepmom is now keeping his mind occupied with all her futzing and telling him what to do.
