One of my favorite lines from a book: "The king is dead; long live the king." From Once and Future King by T H White.

Michelle, I have the impression on memory that customarily at coronations the crowd shout this "The king is dead; long live the king" (referring to the previous and new king in the same breath) after the death of one and the crowning of another.
I suspect this was also said in abreviated form 1953 for the present Queen Elizabeth II(the king is dead; long live the Queen) I have no proof, sorry. Maybe FiFi can find out.

Turmeric--this is possible, but in the novel, there was no new king yet (young Arthur was unknown by all but a few)--thus the humor--the habit of saying long live the king when he was already dead. Okay, rather black humor, but still funny to me.

hhmmmmm, morphine... great stuff when in need. it does it's job. I wouldn't mind having it when on my dying bed.
but you getting off it now must mean you were suffering from something most serious. that's makes me worry... and how does it affect your glucose level if you go off morphine?

Note on topic:
Well, it's sorta my own fault. I wasn't feeling too well yesterday, and I didn't take my time release morphine like I'm supposed to.
I have degenerative bone disease in my left knee, torn meniscus pads, and two tumors in the bone. I need a total knee replacement. But with my husband's health as fragile and poor as it is, I just can't be out of commission that long.
I'm the sole support of our family, and for me to go out on disability (even if my husband's health were more stable) would sink us. The ends don't meet now... Only Jesus keeps us going from week to week. So when He tells me it's time, or chooses to heal me, I'll have my knee fixed.
In the meantime, I need to remember to take my morphine tablets.... one every 12 hours.... otherwise withdrawals really stink.... feels like your skin is walking off your body... and pretty soon you just wish it would! All your joints hurt, all your pains come back, and your tummy is an unhappy camper.
*sigh*
Thanks for the concern! I really need to remember to take my meds.

On Topic: Clio, the sooner you get it fixed the better you'll be able to provide for your family. Living with pain is not fun ... I know.
