1. Nancy Jones, formerly the conference under treasurer, has been
elected treasurer of the Southwest Region Conference, replacing Ted
Brown, who has accepted a call to become the treasurer of the Lake
Region Conference.
2. LifeTalk Radio has started a live call-in program hosted by
Steve Gallimore. This program can be heard on any of the 70 LifeTalk
stations or on the internet at lifetalk.net.
3. The program "The Appearing" has been viewed at more than
1300 churches including a dozen or so non Seventh-day Adventist
Churches. I watched the programs at the Sligo Church. The Baptist lady
that sat next to Marti and me has agreed to join us at church this
Sabbath.
4. The report from the first two quarters of 2005 shows Texas
Conference with the highest number of baptisms of any conference, and
the highest ratio of baptisms to membership was reported by the Texico
Conference.
5. Jerome Davis, formerly the Ministerial Director of the Lake
Region Conference, has been elected President of the Lake Region
Conference.
6. An update on what ADRA has been funding while partnering with
Adventist Community Services for the hurricane relief. $120,000 in
debit and Wal-Mart cards have been distributed to churches housing
evacuees for purchasing consumable items which include everything from
toothpaste to shovels for cleaning up their homes sites. $50,500 to the
Panama City, FL, church for feeding and serving evacuees. Over $113,000
for equipment and supplies for the New Iberia, Louisiana, warehouse.
All total $513,000 in funding distributed. Other programs for continued
recovery are being developed.
7. ADRA estimates that they have received and shipped to the New
Iberia, Louisiana, warehouse and the Houston ACS Warehouse, goods
donated from companies and organizations with a total value of
$1,017,220. These good include truck loads of general disaster
materials, new clothing, food, personal care supplies, and cleaning
supplies.
