l. Ricardo Graham, president of the Northern California Conference,
has been elected secretary of the Pacific Union to replace Ernie
Castillo, who was elected vice president of the North American
Division.
2. Arnold Trujillo, president of the Hawaii Conference, has been
elected vice president of the Pacific Union Conference, replacing E.
Wayne Sheppard, who has announced his retirement.
3. Ted Benson, associate treasurer of the Pacific Union Conference,
has been elected treasurer of the Union replacing Leon Sanders who has
announced his retirement.
4. Norman Miles, formerly president of the Lake Region Conference, has
a call from the Allegheny East Conference to become a pastor in Newark,
N.J.
5. Neville Harcombe, president of the Chesapeake Conference, has been
elected secretary of the Columbia Union Conference, to replace Ed
Motschielder, who has announced his retirement.
6. Seth Bardu, treasurer of the Northeastern Conference, has been
elected treasurer of the Columbia Union Conference, replacing Dowell
Chow, who was elected vice president for finance of Adventist World
Radio.
7. Wally Carson, of the Office of General Counsel in the General
Conference, has been elected a vice president of the Columbia Union
Conference, replacing Robert Patterson, who has taken a position in the
health system.
8. Last week-end Marti and I joined about 600 delegates at a
convention in the Central California Conference. People who paid more
than $100 each to attend were encouraged to attend only if the pastor
and several members of the church came together. Jerry Page, conference
president, and George Johnson, assistant to the president for special
projects, gave to each church group some statistics relating to their
church and territory. Russ Burrill, Division Ministerial Secretary, was
a major presenter. Several times during the day, the groups discussed
how the presentations applied to their territory. Meetings were
conducted on Friday night for 2 1/2 hours, and then on Sabbath from 8:30
a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and then for another 4 hours on Sunday.
9. Dollis Pierson, wife of former GC president, Robert Pierson, died
at 94. She lived in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Please keep the
family in your prayers.
