How did Evangelical theology gain a foothold in the SDA denomination

And why is there the reference to the word "US", when God addresses Himself? And example is in Genesis when He says "Let _US_ make man in _OUR_ image." And in Isaiah 6, God askes "Who will go for _US_?" . It seems to me that there are a couple of other spots that God refers to the plurality of Him when a God of truth would use a singular form, for example 'Me'... Why is it that Jesus has the title " 7During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek. How can Jesus "become the source of eternal salvation" unless he have eternal life? Just a few questions that I am puzzeling over.... Neil, Those are great quotes, but I surely take issue with the NIV. Notice it says He BECAME (at some point in time) the source. By the way, I never questioned the divinity of Jesus so you don't have to prove to me that He is the divine SON of God. This is unfortunate because the two (evangelical theology and trinitarianism), I believe, are indivisible. I guess that kills this thread.
