Norman The Toubadour Registered: 03/19/05 Posts: 1886 Loc: Georgia/US	Last night we wanted to watch 3ABN and we could not get it. We have a satellite signal of 104 but no 3ABN. We have sky angel and we can't get two other staions as well. All other channels are coming in. Edited to add: I just called Sky Angel and they are having technical difficulties with 3ABN as well as two others that someone mentioned already above...they said that things would be back up and running soon.

Like someone said above - 3ABN is totally missing from the sky angel lineup. This certainly doesn't look good to me.

"The electric power converters (EPCs) on Echostar-3 are operating at higher than expected temperatures. As a result, Echostar-3 is operated at 120 watts per channel. If the satellite were operated at a "double powered" 230 watts per channel, approximately half of its 16 channel capacity would be unavailable during solstice seasons by the end of the satellite's planned life. Between early 1998 and the end of 2003, 7 pairs of TWTAs (the core of the transponders) failed for a variety of reasons. During January 2004, another TWTA pair on Echostar-3 failed, resulting in a loss of service on one of Echostar's licensed transponders. While originally designed to operate a maximum of 32 transponders at any given time, the satellite was equipped with a total of 44 TWTAs to provide redundancy. Echostar-3 can now operate a maximum of 28 transponders. The problem has not been fixed. Spirit Television still has this posted on their site. "Echostar has reported that a problem with a transponder aboard one of their satellites (beyond our control) is preventing you from being able to watch SPIRIT at this time. We've been assured that this problem will be resolved by Echostar shortly. Thank you for your continued patience." 2. 3ABN should have a contract with SkyAngel and when it expires they will have to renogociate it or not renew it. A transponder going out should not impact the contract between 3ABN and SkyAngel. 3. 3ABN is requesting that viewers do not contact SkyAngel!!! The following is still posted on 3ABN's website "Sky Angel does not have a channel available for 3ABN at this time. I was going to try to verify the post about Moses Primo and see if they have something to say. This whole situation is making me more and more worried about this TV channel. I personally think that they have bigger problems than is seen to the normal watchers. Only the insiders know for sure...

We only have our AMC4 dish hooked up in the Living Room although we have SkyAngel in both the den and Living Room. I spend a lot of time in the den so I miss that a bit. This problem is not related to anything else that may be going on at 3ABN. This is a problem with the transponder that is on a satellite in outer space. Spirit Television is another one of our favorites that we finacially support and it is down too. Golden Eagle Broadcasting is also down and they make no mention of it on their website. In fact they still state, "Golden Eagle is available through the internet, Sky Angel network, select broadcast stations, and is offered to cable systems on a no-cost basis." 3ABN may lose their spot on SkyAngel someday so those of us that watch it should pray that doesn't happen and support them so it doesn't happen. SkyAngel does eliminate channels and bring new ones on. When 3ABN's contract comes up, that is a real possability depending on their ratings, other channels competing for the spot as well as other factors I'm sure. _________________________ I reserve the humble right to be wrong. The satellite problem has not been resolved. Not only is 3ABN still "off air" in the SkyAngel lineup, so is Spirit Television and Golden Eagle Broadcasting. 3ABN's website is still requesting that viewers do not contact SkyAngel OR 3ABN about the problem. SkyAngel channel 9710 is still in the lineup and simply reads "Off Air" which is the same message given on the Spirit Television site and Golden Eagle site. This problem could continue for weeks so let's try to confirm any email or internet rumors before passing them along to others. Please don’t call them or us until we make any further announcements Thank you The reason SkyAngel doesn't have a channel available is because the problem with the transponder has not been resolved. Spirit Television (which is one of SkyAngel's most popular channels) and Golden Eagle Broadcasting are also "Off Air". The transponder belongs to SkyAngel although it is aboard a satellite owned by DISH Network so I believe DISH Network is in charge of getting it fixed. They have lost 6 more of their channels. So of the 20 TV channels only 11 are now on air. They have lost all but one of their radio channels.
