Here's a story that was sent me regarding a recent NAD Friday fax: From the fax: Quote:
" ELDER ERNEST H. J. STEED, retired director of the International Commission of Alcoholism and Drug Dependency (ICPA) in the General Conference Health and Temperance Department, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, after a brief illness. He is the father of Lincoln Steed, editor of Liberty magazine."
The comment: Quote:
Ernie Steed was a teenager when I was about 7 years old, living in OZ during the 2nd WWar. He worked for my dad on our farm during times when Avondale College was not in session, along with other students and "Land Army Girls." Several of them were "roomed and boarded" in our house. He was quite a character, not yet involved in Religious Liberty, but definitely involved in Slanguage Liberty, which verb-osity my mother didn't appreciate, especially at the dining table. His favourite expressions there that I remember were in the "toss the bread, throw the Weetbix, chuck the milk" etc. So, one day when he wanted the milk using one of his "verb-extremes" my mother picked up the full 1/2 gallon jug and threw its contents all over him -- just the way he'd asked for it! ! END of extreme-verbs at the table! Not sure if "please" was ever used!
