There is a web site that has a good modular computer Bible program for free. You can access it at the
Online Bible site.
As I have said, it is modular. You begin with the basic program and add whatever translations, commentaries, books, maps, and dictionaries you wish and that are available. You can also add your own notes to your copy of the program and print them out or copy them to your word processor.
Other sites also have modules that will fit this program, including one on Ellen White's Steps to Christ. One such site is
www.ccel.org/olbThe program may take some time getting used to, but I have used it off and on for years. The main program is updated quite often, and you can even write your own modules to fit the program if you like and share them on various sites.
You should also note, however, that the more modern translations - New Living Bible, New King James, etc. - carry a registration fee, but the fee is usually $5 (at least one translation is more). And most of the maps available for the program come from none other than our own Review and Herald.
If you like to access other languages, the companion web site in England -
Online Bible - has quite a few modules in other languages. Some of the language groups have their own basic programs in their own language as well.
If you're in the market for a Bible program that won't break your pocketbook, you may wish to look at the
Online Bible .
