Milwaukee listed as "America's Drunkest City" MILWAUKEE Is the Brew City getting a bad rap?
Milwaukee has been ranked by Forbes-dot-com as "America's Drunkest City," based on information from the U-S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More than 70 percent of adult Milwaukeeans reported that they had at least one alcoholic drink within the past 30 days. That compares with 45 percent in Nashville, Tennessee, which ranked last among the 35 cities on the list.
Officials at Visit Milwaukee, the area's convention and visitors bureau, contend that the city has come a long way in ridding itself of its beer-guzzling image. A spokesman says Milwaukee has gone from Brew City to new city with the Milwaukee Art Museum expansion, the convention center and baseball park.

And as an addendum, read this little blurb about "drunkenest cities"....
Forbes: Twin Cities are #2 on drunkest cities
Forbes magazine gave a dubious honor to Minneapolis and St. Paul by naming them as the No. 2 "Most Drunken City" in the nation.
First place went to Milwaukee, Wis.
The publication ranked the country's 35 largest metropolitan areas in five categories: state laws, number of drinkers, number of heavy drinkers, number of binge drinkers and alcoholism.
Forbes gave each city a quantitative score in each category and ranked them by their total scores.
The Twin Cities ranked No. 2 for adults who have had a drink in the last month, No. 3 for binge drinkers, No. 4 for alcoholism and No. 12 for heavy drinkers.
Oddly enough, cities with reputations for heavy drinking scored much lower on the list. Las Vegas was No. 14 and New Orleans came in at No. 24.
Nashville, Tenn., finished last in the No. 35 spot.

I thought Fairbanks, Alaska would have made the list, but on second thought, lots of people don't think of Alaska when they think of "America".
