OK, I accept your intention, but I cannot understand why a person can not accept the written word of Scripture in Genesis without casting doubt over the whole Bible.
I cannot see how anyone could not accept the biblical account of a literal 7-day Creation without implying that everything else in Scripture was subject to man's interpretation.
I can accept that the basic planet "Earth" is millions of years old (or whatever time period they like to surmise), because Earth was just an uninhabited planet waiting for God to make it habitable, in the same way as we have other planets in our Solar System just waiting for God to perform His Creation miracle on them -- and I look forward to the time when I can watch Him do that.
To quote other churches as a reason why we should doubt the 7-day literal creation is not an argument that holds water. Those churches do not accept the Creation story because it would mean that they would have to accept the 7th day Sabbath, and they have willingly blinded themselves to that fact by inventing the long time period for Creation.
Just answer this, Bevin -- if I can't take the word of God in Genesis chapter 1, why should I accept His Word in anything?

Excellent Beryl. This is a point that all too many often choose to discount or overlook. Naomi
