Club Adventist
Welcome with open arms fellow believers who don’t see things the way you do.
And don’t jump all over them every time they do or say something you don’t agree with
– even when it seems that they are strong on opinions but weak in the faith department.
Remember, they have their own history to deal with. Treat them gently. Romans 14.1: The Message

"And he wept so loudly that the Egyptians heard him, and Pharaoh's household heard about it." Genesis 45:2

The physical descendants of Isaac and Ishmael were passionate and expressive people who showed seemingly supercharged emotions that often seem excessive to those of other cultures.

Their weeping is loud, whether coming from joy or grief. Equally loud is their laughter. Their joy is exhuberant, while their grief is depressive, filled with almost hopeless despair.

Their love is demonstrative, their hate violent and destructive.

The angel of the Lord said to Hagar concerning her son Ishmael:

"He will be a wild donkey of a man; his hand will be against everyone and everyone's hand against him, and he will live in hostility toward all his brothers" Genesis 16:12 That was true in Bible times, and it is true of his descendants today.

There are peoples from various regions of the world who still live life with passion. All emotions are felt and displayed to the extreme.

I am related to some, was married to one, perhaps I am one . Life is never dull or boring. Our Lord walked the earth with people such as this.

ever hear something that made your heart jump with joy and u express it with an exuberant(if not hesitant) "amen' and all the worshipers look at u or search out your voice.

and do u know why?

in our society men can be only overjoyed at a sports game.

the church is stoic and u cant really express pure joy or greiving angst.

so much for your peers who profess Christ without realness.

wood for the fire

That perspective changes EVERYTHING-suffering and adversity are the means that makes us hungry for GOD. Disapointments will wean us away wordly occupations. Even sin(when repented of) becomes a mechanism to push us closer to HIM as we experience His Love and Forgiveness.

The members in some churches are more expressive than in others.

G4J ... would would change your mind about men being overjoyed and expressive only at a sports game if you were at some of my family gatherings. Of, just be around me for a while. hehehe

I think there is a time for all emotions and a way to express them in a manner appropriate to the situation.

And, I do not think that you have to be overly emotional to be a "real" christian anymore than you have to be stoic to be a good christian. Personalities and situations differ ... only God knows what we really feel.

Just my opinion

Anyone remember when Roberto Benigni won the Oscar for best foreign film (and best actor in a foreign film as well, I believe) for his, "Life is Beautiful"? (La Vida e Bella)

Talk about exuberance!
